Sublime Society’s approach to societal funding is built on the principles of Georgism: an economic philosophy that proposes that land and its resources should be used to generate public wealth rather than being treated as a form of private property. Like Georgism, by imposing taxes on the value of land — in Sublime Society’s case, VNS — we can generate revenue that will be used to fund the development of all of our communities, utilities, and public goods.
Our approach to taxation is designed to be fair and progressive, aligned with our vision of creating a society that is equitable and just. The theory behind this taxation model is that there will be no other form of taxation within the Sublime CX ecosystem; this tax will facilitate the funding of absolutely everything else.
In addition to our unique approach to funding, we’re also encouraging the establishment of diverse communities within our ecosystem. Anyone can start a sub-community within Sublime Society — akin to an Ethereum Naming Service (ENS) for communities.
As such, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be launching a new feature, .VIBES Naming Service (VNS), that will act a bit like Ethereum Naming Service. The key difference is that rather than being owned by individual addresses, .VIBES addresses will be collectively rented by the members of the sub-communities.
There will be an ongoing fee for renting the .VIBES addresses, and these fees will be covered by community members in accordance with each community’s governance structure.
Different fee structures will be in place for different community .VIBES addresses based on popularity. For instance, music.vibes would likely command greater revenue than garyglitter.vibes.
The community will be deciding the details, and whatever is decided will be in the best interests of the community as a whole. Nothing is irreversible on this front as it will be built on a decentralised system designed to enable the collective/collaborative management of the .VIBES community naming service. Transparency, fairness, and governance will be key.
We believe that our approach to societal funding is a game-changer, and it has the potential to transform the way we think about economic systems.
Our goal is to create a society where wealth is distributed fairly, and everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive. But creating a just society is not something that can be achieved overnight. It requires a sustained effort, and we are committed to making this vision a reality. We invite early community members to pioneer sub-communities around diverse subject areas by establishing the first VIBES topics within the Sublime Society Telegram channel.
We believe that our approach to taxation and community-building is a significant step in the right direction. If you want to help create a better world, come join us.
